Preventing termites is far more convenient and cost effective than attempting to recover after a termite infestation. As a result, many new home builders use our services to ensure that pre-construction materials are guarded against termites. Most products that can be used provide up to 5 years of protection, which ensures that new construction homes do not develop a termite infestation – at least not one that is structurally-based.
Inspections can also be conducted to ensure that any potential causes of termite infestation are eliminated before construction of a new home is completed. Clutter or wood surrounding the outside of the home can be removed. If standing water is likely to be an issue, recommendations can also be made on how to proceed to help reduce the likelihood of a termite infestation.
Retroactive treatment for termite infestations is also available if an infestation has already occurred.
Preventing Termite Infestation
In addition to preventative treatment, you can prevent termite infestation with the following steps:
- Remove standing water – if there are puddles, birdbaths, or any kid of standing water outside near the foundation of your home, then it needs to be removed.
- Avoid mulch – if there is mulch near the foundation of your home, ensure that you remove it. If it is for a garden, there are non-wood options that can be selected if necessary.
- Clean gutters – gutters that are full of wood debris are tempting to termites as water is also located there.
